Students honored by Career Tech Center

FLORENCE — A senior at Central High School and a senior from Brooks High School have been honored by the staff and faculty at the Allen Thornton Career Technical Center for their outstanding efforts in the month of November.

Gary Dan Williams, director of the Allen Thornton Career Technical Center, said monthly awards are given for the career and technical student of the month and employee of the month at the Simulated Work Place at Allen Thornton.

Williams said students from throughout the Lauderdale County School System are recognized for their work in career tech.

Christopher Brown of Central has been recognized as the career and technical student of the month. He has a 3.8 GPA and is involved in the welding program. He serves as the SkillsUSA Chapter President this year, and is working on his Welding Level I certification.

Kasandra Valles of Brooks, who has a 4.0 GPA, is honored as the employee of the month. She is involved in Innovative Engineering Design. She has been credentialed as an Autodesk Inventor Certified User, Microsoft Office Specialist Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
