The registration process for admissions to BE/B Arch/ Integrated BE-MBA courses, based on JEE (Mains) 2018 All India Ranking under joint admission committee (JAC), began on Tuesday at 2pm. Around 140 candidates registered online on the first day till 5pm.
A total of 1,300 seats are available at the five engineering institutes affiliated to Panjab University, including University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Panjab University, UIET Hoshiarpur, Dr SS Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (UICET), Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology (CCET), Sector 26, and Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA), Sector 12. This time, Punjab Engineering College (PEC) will not conduct admissions through JAC and will instead go for joint seat allocation at par with IITs and NITs.
UIET (PU) has 656 seats in all for bachelors in engineering (BE) in computer science and engineering, information technology, electronics and communication, biotechnology, electrical and electronics, and mechanical. The duration of all the courses is four years. Professor JK Goswamy (UIET) said that the whole process of admission is online and the tuition fee for the new session 2018-19 is Rs 65,970.
The last date for online registration is June 30 and candidates will have to separately apply for JAC. Dr SSB UICET offers 177 seats in all for BE (chemical), BE (food technology), and integrated BE (chemical)-MBA. The duration of the integrated course is five years and the tuition fee for the same for the new students is Rs 85,510.
CCET offers BE in computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering, civil engineering and mechanical engineering. CCA offers five year course in Bachelor of Architecture (B Arch).
